A Knitting Playlist
I do everything to music–cooking, cleaning, reading, exercising, dining… and, of course, knitting. Mood is everything, and I feel almost exposed when there is no background music. I understand that lyrics can be distracting during certain activities, like reading, but when I am creating, I love immersing myself in an artist’s words. I get lost in the beauty of lyrics and often find ways to apply a song’s meaning to my own life–which is funny, considering I am a grown adult, a partner, and a mother of three young adults. Listening to 26-year-olds lament their angst is pretty amusing, but it doesn’t change the way music resonates with me.
I tend to gravitate toward more modern artists, thanks in part to my family’s influence. I am not as dedicated a fan of the classics as I am indie pop and similar genres from the past decade or so. Some of my current favorites include Clairo, Gracie Abrams, Father John Misty, Finneas, Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Post Malone, Kacey Musgraves, Still Woozy, Lana Del Rey, Cigarettes After Sex, Bazzi, and Harry Styles. But above all, my heart belongs to Taylor Swift.
Recently I have discovered Matt Maltese–a new artist for me. Here’s a playlist of some of his songs; have a listen!
